More than 11 million people abused prescription opioids in 2016. Overdose deaths and opioid-involved deaths continue to increase in the United States, according to the CDC. This epidemic is impacting both men and women, all races, and adults of nearly all ages.

Opioids work on the nervous system in the body or specific receptors in the brain to reduce the intensity of pain.

Drug overdose is the #1 cause of accidental death for adults in Illinois - 80% involve heroin.

The Winnebago County Health Department and Hope Over Addiction offer free Narcan training classes. Free Narcan kits are provided after completion of the class. Register today at www.hopeoveraddiction.net.
